for documenting my process learning new software, skills, and mediums of design
fully digital journals beginning in May 2025 for Emerging Tech course
Today our group met in the innovation hub to get started working on what our app may be.
What we got done in about 45 mins condensed to bullet points:
Everyone was easy to talk to and collaborate with, it was nice to finally see people from this class face to face.
I had a experience full of frustration and confusion while working with MIT App Inventor (MITAI). I worked on creating an app over the course of a few days, my goal for my app getting simpler and simpler as i went along
Of course, when our instructor showed this MIT-made web-based developer, he warned us to the fullest extent. 'How bad could it be?' i thought.
I initially wanted to make an RGB slider, didn't seem like it would become as complicated as it was.
For that; it was easy and even fun to make the UI, but i was dead in the water when it came to hooking it up with the blocks.
After fiddling with it for a while, i decided to change course. Oh hey, my birthday is coming up, is there a countdown feature somewhere under all these categories of UI?? Nope! Just a clock. AND to code a countdown i have to manually do all the calendar math within the blocks? Thats where that idea died.
My final app was just a switch to display an image, and then a button to enhance it while pressed down.
The artwork featured was initially an animation made on my tablet very late at night a few weeks back thru AmberDraw. I hadn't planned on using it for this until i, ambitiously, decided i wanted to try to upload something as high-tech as a moving picture to my 3rd attempt at an application- silly me! I attempted to upload to MITAI as a gif file, then as a mp4 file, then after many errors and condensing ; when i realized that i could only upload files the size of molecules, i just settled for a couple enhanced screen shots to cycle thru and called it a day.
Oh and don't forget the not-so-integrated emulator i could hardly get working, i ended up using the Blustacks emulator to run my final 'app' instead
Very frustrating but at least my silly little app impressed my grandma, so hey, theres that.
I am an artist who thinks way too long about color and light and bringing beauty into the world. I love to do many things, paint, collage, theatrical lighting design, digital art, way too many different things so i post a selection here on my website. It can be hard for me too slow down enough to keep the site up to date. Im bad at grammar, worse at typing, but great with imagining solutions and visual problem solving. I spend alot of time on Youtube.

Never ask me about color theory, LEDs or entertainment design...
I won't SHUT UP.

Fun Fact about me:
I would sell my soul to a cooperation for 1 job and 1 job only...
Disney Imagineer- such a pipe dream! But it is THE dream job- what a massive canvas they get to design on!

I have interests in most fields of experience design, even though currently my desired career is within lighting tech; all manners of media where a story can be told interest me.

I also have the type of ADHD that makes me constantly yearn for new tools that let me make things. Software wise, since 2025 has started I've dabbled in CAD softwares (Vectorworks, AutoCad) Projections software (Isadora) and new programming enviroemnts (TouchDesigner, Processing + other java IDEs) ; just to name a few.
..New painting apps aswell, Procreate, HeavyPaint, and just for kicks KidPix 3D.

I WISH this web builder would let me draw decorations in here easily... I would also love to learn how to archive my artwork as 3D interactable models. Just a couple things off the top of my head this class maybe able to help me with.

Offline, I spend alot of time listening to music while visualizing exactly how it could look onstage. And writing in my physical journals, or tending to my many physical collections.
Now im adding some random artwork Ive made recently to the left.
Also, if you hate this color scheme, you better tell me now!
Boom first journal done!
this link better work....
